SARAH KRAMER
BIOGRAPHY
I was born in 1990 and grew up in Remscheid - a small town near Cologne (NRW, Germany). After graduating from high school, I studied media design in Münster and worked as a photographer and designer. After a few years of freelance work, I began studying at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne to become a documentary filmmaker and camera woman. Since then, my focus has been on camera work in documentary and fictional projects. I also work primarily on my own documentary projects as an author and director. I am currently making a documentary film (AT: Tannenstraße) about the street where I grew up and the friendships that developed there. Opposite my parents' house, a shelter for refugees was opened in the 90s. The people who moved into Tannenstrasse included many families with children. The essayistic documentary deals with the way how we remember and tells the story of people who happened to share a certain place at a certain time. It is about different realities of life and a contrast that had an impact but did not prevent that friendships were formed. The film is supported by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and will be completed in
spring 2025.
