WORK
A gray building in a small town in western Germany – Tannenstraße 10. For the refugee families who lived there,
a temporary home. For me, a place of formative encounters.
In this essayistic documentary, I return to the street where
I was born and grew up in 1990, telling the story of friendships that were formed but also lost there.
Through a collage of old, self-recorded video footage, photographs, and friendship books, intertwined with encounters and conversations, the film creates a space of remembrance. It moves between past and present, exploring not only contrasts but, above all, the subtle connections between different lived realities.
A story of friendship, migration, and childhood in the 1990s.
The film is my graduation project at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) and was supported by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.

A feature film by director Yonca Sicimoglu:
KAYA – a German-Turkish director – is alone in Rome after a theater production and faces her shame and emotional chaos. The criticism against KAYA: she had no right to exoticize her mother's story. From a distance, KAYA must reflect on her mistakes and, between the ruins of ancient Rome and her tough loneliness, seeks salvation in the queer nightlife of the timeless metropolis.

A experimental short film by director Julian Quentin: Franka feels alienated from her life and is desperate for change, when she stumbles upon a self-optimization program set in a serene, simulated nature landscape. Despite initial discomfort, a fake-friendship and her fear of failure make Franka blind to a system, where the lines between ambition and self-repression blur.

A documentary film that follows a group of children spending the summer on a german trailer park: between swimming in
a shipping canal, playing hide-and-seek in a cornfield, and a sick rat that some want to save and others want to kill.
A situation that splits the group and confronts them with a challenge.

This film was made in collaboration with the artist Marie Heleen Samrotzki and the director Julian Quentin. The experimental short film is a hybrid form between music video, performance film and scenic film. It is about Mila, who finds herself in a seemingly endless repetitive choreography. With great effort, she merges with the others to form a machine. But what happens when suddenly everyone lets go or someone can no longer do it? It is about the feeling of being driven to function. Instead of being able to fight it or rebel against it, everyone works to cope with the situation as best they can. The revolution is thus replaced by the individual's own responsibility for self-optimization.

My third documentary short film is 26 minutes long and entitled "Keine Angst für Alle" (No Fear For Everyone).
It is about an artist and musician named Lota, who lives in a small green oasis. A trailer park in the middle of an industrial area on the outskirts of Münster. There he makes music,
thinks about the cruelties of this world and - as soon as the machines stop - plays golf with his girlfriend Mone in the
man-made deserts of the industrial area. The film is a homage to the imperfect and playful, but also deals with a counter-culture that seeks its freedom in the offside.

A short documentary entitled "Geteilte Ewigkeiten" (Shared Eternities) about my grandparents' lives. Super8 footage of
my grandfather from the 70s and 80s is compared to footage
I took of them and their apartment - my grandfather had a passion for filming his own apartment, which still looks almost exactly the same 50 years later. The film deals with memories, but also leaves gaps, contains unfinished sentences, lost memories. It illustrates the speechlessness of a war generation that has never come to terms with the trauma of its childhood.
